In this course, author and criminal psychology expert Dr. Christopher Kurtz presents a series of indepth profiles defining various types of crime. Homicide, aggravated assault, sexual assault, residential and nonresidential burglary, and motor vehicle theft will be explored. For each type of crime, Dr. Kurtz defines offender and victim profiles and examines situational elements, crime typologies, and biosocial and psychological theories. The course will also examine crime control strategies and present an overview of dangerous persons, places and situations. Students will get hands-on practice developing their own profiles for various types of crimes, perpetrators, and victims.
