This fascinating course provides a general introduction to Color Theory for everyone, with a hands-on approach to the study of basic color principles. You don't have to be an artist to appreciate beautiful colors, and enjoyment increases with some basic training in color theory. "Pleasure in color is nearly universal" writes Walter Sargent, whose book on color will be explored in the class. Topics covered include the science of light and color, how the eye works, color meanings, and rules for color contrast. Experiments and fun projects make this a "hands-on" learning adventure. Colorfully taught by graphic artist Chaundel Johnson (known by the nick KOT here at VU).
This course is designed for beginning artists who have no prior knowledge of color as well as intermediate artists. In addition, non-artists who have an interest in the meaning and use of color in psychology, interior decorating, website design, and meditation may also find this online class very useful.
Curriculum: Five week course, instructor-led. No textbook required.
Prerequisites: All students may enroll in this course. A computer capable of seeing colored images is required.
