What This Course Will Do for You
This class is designed for beginners to HTML and as a refresher for more experienced web designers. The main goal will be to create a basic web page of which you can be proud and to post it on the Web by the end of the class. Students will be introduced to the HTML tags needed to hand-code a basic web page and will learn how to make links to other web pages, use graphics and sound, and examine guidelines for creating a well designed web page. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
Prerequisites
Students need a basic understanding of their computer, the ability to create and save files, and must know how to create new folders and directories. A current model web browser and the basic ability to use it to surf the Web is also required. A basic text editor is required. For Windows PC users, Notepad can be found under START menu | PROGRAMS | ACCESSORIES. For Mac users, SimpleText (OS 9), or TextEdit (OS X) are standard. These programs are text editors, not Word Processors, and thus are suitable for hand coding HTML, which is emphasized in this course. Students must know how to create and save files with this software. |

The course curriculum will include tutorial lessons, suggested readings, and optional homework activities. If you are taking the class for enjoyment or self-enrichment, homework is optional but participation is encouraged.
