Login Help for Firefox Users

If you are using Firefox as your browser and you are unable to log in to your Web Desk, chances are your browser is not allowing server cookies from our site, or you may have a "stale" cookie stuck in your brower cache. Follow these simple steps to troubleshoot and correct the problem:

STEP 1: Make sure your browser is accepting server cookies

On the Firefox toolbar, click Tools | Options. Click the Privacy tab and open the Cookies panel. Make sure the cookie options are set as shown in the screen shot on the right.

NOTE: Checking "for the originating site only" is optional but suggested. It will block third party cookies (advertising, tracking, etc.)

Click OK. Firefox should now accept server cookies. Do a fresh login to verify that you can reach your desk. If you still have trouble logging in, continue on to Step Two below.

STEP 2: Cookie Troubleshooting

Open the Cookie panel as described above. Click the View Cookies button to bring up a list of saved cookies (see illustration at right). Click the Site tab to sort the cookie list alphabetically. Scroll down the list and see if there are any cookies from ksurf.net (the example on the right shows a cookie for VU.ORG highlighted).

If you find any ksurf.net cookies on the list, highlight them and click Remove Cookie. Click OK. If there are no ksurf.net cookies, click OK to close the dialog.
Now, to the left of the View Cookies button in the Cookie panel, you'll see a button for Exceptions. Click to open the Exceptions Manager panel.

Examine the list of cookies in the Exceptions panel. If you see ksurf.net on the list, make sure it is not blocked. If you find a blocked entry, highlight it and click Remove.

Optional: While you are in the Exceptions panel, you can instruct Firefox to always allow cookies from ksurf.net to avoid future problems logging in to your desk. In the Address of web site field, type ksurf.net. Click on Allow. You should see ksurf.net added to the site list, and you will see "Allow" in the Status column.

Click OK to close the Exceptions dialogue.

STEP 3: Clearing the Browser Cache

With the Privacy Manager panel still open, there is one more task you need to do. Look down the list of options until you find Cache   (it is the last option on the list.) This is where temporary Internet files that you've recently browsed are stored. Click the Clear button to clear the browser cache.

Click OK at the bottom of the Privacy Manager panel to finish. Close all Firefox windows, and completely exit from Firefox with File | Exit.

Close all other running applications, and reboot your computer. When you return to online status, open Firefox and try logging in. You should now be able to reach your desk.
